Siddhalepa shows the way in waste disposal
Pilgrims to katharagama are pleasantly surprised these days at the sight of three varieties of waste bins, one green, one in yellow and one in red, liberally placed in the precincts of the katharagama devale and the Kiri Vehera. The green bins are for biodegradable garbage, the yellow for plastic and polythene, and the red for glass. This is another unobtrusive contribution by Siddhalepa to clean environment and waste management.
The chief priest of Ruhuna Magampattu, the chief incumbent of the Kiri Vehera Purana Rajamaha Vihare,

and the chancellor of the University of Uva Wellassa the venerable Dr. Alutwewe Soratha Thero have extended their blessings to this project while members both of clergy and laity have commended it as an idea that is eminently suited to the school system.
The management of the Siddhalepa Group intends to introduce the use of these environment friendly garbage bins in schools as soon possible..
In addition, Siddhalepa has implemented several projects of corporate social responsibility in connection with the annual Esala Festival of the Ruhunu katharagama Maha Dewalaya. All the flower stalls along the Kiri Vehera Road have been renovated and painted while all the lamp posts along the Kiri Vehera Road and in the Katharagama Devale premises have been given a new coat of paint and new electric bulbs fixed thus illuminating the whole area for the Esala festival.
The name boards at the Kiri Vehera have been repaired and Lakpeyawa and Iramusu stalls provide these herbal drinks free of charge round the clock for weary pilgrims. Five changing rooms for women who wish to bathe in the Menik Ganga have been renovated and 200 plastic water buckets provided for use in the toilets. Awareness-creating slogans and notices have been displayed and twenty cement benches have been built on the either side of the sacred premises. All these Siddhalepa contributions for the comfort of the pilgrims have received the plaudit of everyone.
